Whats in it for the Asian American community
On May 17, Sina.com, a Sunnyvale, California-based Internet media company for Chinese communities worldwide announced an international agreement in which it would provide Internet content for Chinas three leading telecommunications companies. This deal illustrates the global business communitys increasing acknowledgement of the tremendous growth potential of the Chinese wireless Internet market. China is projected to overtake Japan later this year as the worlds second biggest mobile phone market, and by the end of 2001, China is expected to have 100 million plus mobile phone users.
The huge Chinese wireless market is largely untapped, said Hurst Lin, U.S. General Manager for Sina.com. Were working hard to make the most of the opportunities the Internet revolution in China is going to provide.
Thats why Sina.com, as well as the many other companies doing business in China hailed the U.S. House of Representatives passage of a bill on May 24 that normalizes trade relations with China.
