Asian Interpreters Needed in Wisconsin
By Associated Press
A big increase in Wisconsins Asian American and Latino populations during the last decade has helped create a need for foreign language interpreters in the states courts, according to a report.
The state Committee to Improve Interpreting and Translation in the Wisconsin Courts said there is a dearth of qualified interpreters and no statewide certification process for them.
The panel said that, by spending a little more than $2 million during the next two years, the state could have a respectable court interpreter program within five years.
