At Travis Air Force Base’s Public Affairs office in Fairfield, Calif., Flight Commander Major Sara Salansky, a Korean American, briskly walks in with a clipboard in her arm, dressed in camouflage gear. Her hair is tied back and she wears wire-rimmed glasses. She smiles and speaks in a quiet and deliberate manner. Shortly after, Senior Master Sergeant Alan K.H. Chung, another Asian American walks in, dressed in fatigues with his name carefully stitched on his left pocket. He flashes a huge smile and talks in an outgoing manner. He seems to be in a rush, yet interested to talk candidly about his life at the Air Force base.
