Women Writers Women of Color invites complete papers (4,000 - 6,000 words) by women of color writers who critically explore political, social and personal uses for an anthology. For more info: WOC_Writers@hotmail.com. ARTSAwakening the Sleeping Monkey John Yoyogi Fortes juxtaposes Filipino and pop imagery, Disney iconography and more in monumental paintings. Using humor as a vehicle, Fortes confronts viewers with unsettling global human interactions, which often culminate in the transformation of societies. China and Beyond China and Beyond: Artistic Influence Into and Out of China comprises more than 80 objects from the collections of members of the Society of Asian Art. The exhibition includes paintings, ceramics, bronzes, jades and sculptures. All works will either be from China that reflect a foreign influence, or objects from Tibet, Japan, Vietnam, Korea and even Europe that were inspired by Chinese motifs. The Chinese Culture Center will be showcasing works by emerging Asian artists called got art?. The retrospective survey spans more than 40 years of Asawas work. Yes Yoko Ono This premiere American retrospective draws from Onos 40-year career as an artist, poet and composer.
