‘Warcraft III’: Blizzard Does it Again

The long-awaited, real-time strategy (RTS) game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (WC3) was finally released on July 3. This is no SimZoo 1922 — this is a series classic. If you haven’t played it yet, here are three reasons why you should.

Intense graphics. WC3 comes packed with brilliant colors, 3D landscapes, 360-degree rotation around your base/battlefield, and 2D views from above or a 3D first-person view with a scroll of the mouse. In the single-player mission, the trailers alone are well worth the purchase, with the same beautifully detailed renderings as the Final Fantasy movie...

Multiplayer Time: This Ain’t No ‘Starcraft’

When Blizzard Entertainment sent us a copy of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, our first instinct was to get the game up and running on everyone’s computer so we could duke it out in multiplayer mode. However, unlike Starcraft, it doesn’t have a spawn version. So instead, we took it down to our favorite PC bang, Evo (in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset district), and hit it up with the AW team, some friends and even the co-owner of the joint, Torrance. After everyone settled in, we immersed ourselves into the multiplayer world of Warcraft III. Here are our responses...
