Letters to the Editor

In Defense of Feng Shui Manuals

DEAR EDITOR: I appreciated your interesting and well-written cover article on feng shui, “Demystifying Feng Shui” (Aug. 8), especially since the article emphasized the importance of incorporating birth information with feng shui application. It is very true that both systems work well together in providing helpful service.

But I disagree with Mr. Wu Chen Zi that one cannot learn from feng shui books! Not everyone who is eager to learn has the rare opportunity to study with a master, so books are a place to start. And the I-Ching that he studies every day for six hours — that’s a book.

Brittle Bones

DEAR EDITOR: Emil Amok comments in “The Failure of Mare Urine” (Aug. 1) that current Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is dangerous for all menopausal females. Prescribed HRT is rumored to be dangerous, so some stop. Later osteoporosis is discovered, and it’s back to the HRT. Now they are saying that the HRT is cancerous.

APA females are lactose intolerant, so the resolution is lactaid drops or tablets. Drug makers should target APA women — they should make more drops, make them more economical. Emil, please advocate for this.

Are you aware that Chinese — or maybe all APA — males are small-boned and prone to osteoporosis too? Often males don’t know this and don’t follow proper prevention until they fall. Then it’s too late and they break their brittle bones.
