The Best of the
ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN Bay Area

Here we are, living in the hub of Asian Pacific America — surrounded by sushi shacks, bubble tea shops, progressive arts organizations, historic alleyways, politicians who look like us and lots of stylists who know how to cut our hair.

For the first time ever, AsianWeek decided to take a good look at all the APA wealth we are ensconced in and figure out what we liked best. After running an extensive survey for nearly two months, receiving numerous and enthusiastic responses from our readers, AsianWeek staffers then dutifully went and checked it all out, adding a few favorites of our own.

Our Best of the Asian Pacific American Bay Area includes hidden dim sum treasures that were right in front of our faces, a kung fu flick beginners’ guide from the people at your favorite video store, detailed analysis of fan-cy Hawaiian food and the surprising results of who you think are the greatest APAs in the Bay Area.

Use this historic issue as a social planner, restaurant guide or wallpaper for your bedroom. Remember, it’s never too early to start scoping out joints to include in next year’s issue.

Congratulations to all our winners!
