While it’s true that Asian Pacific Americans are quite poorly represented in certain fields, such as hockey-stick manufacturing and chainsaw-juggling, there is no shortage of APAs in the videogame industry. Asian corporations and their American branches have dominated the gaming world since the introduction of the Nintendo Entertainment System almost 20 years ago, and APAs have dominated right along with them.
This week, AsianWeek chats with four of the game industry’s “Big Playas,” each of whom could have us erased with a snap of his fingers: Mark Jung, president and CEO of IGN.com, the hottest destination on the Web; Richard Wah Kan, president and CEO of DreamCatcher; Frank Fu, CEO of Leadman Electronics and Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, only just the biggest freakin’ videogame company in the history of the world. If their true stories don’t inspire you to crush your way to the top, we don’t know what will:
Kazuo Hirai: President and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America
Mark Jung: President and CEO, IGN.com and GameSpy.com
Richard Wah Kan: President and CEO, DreamCatcher Games
Frank Fu: CEO, Leadman Electronics, USA Inc.
