Frank Fu

Age: 50
Title: CEO, Leadman Electronics, USA Inc.
Office Location: Santa Clara, Calif.
Ethnicity: Chinese American
Birthplace: Taiwan
Who were your influences growing up? Albert Yu of Intel.

Frank Fu has been in the hi-tech industry for 30 years, longer than many in the same field have been alive. So what better way to apply his expertise, than to start his own company? And that’s exactly what he did 17 years ago with Leadman Electronics, the sole U.S. distributor of the Korean-made iCube Play@TV device, which can stream digital video, audio and photo files from a PC to a TV and stereo over an Ethernet or 802.11b Wireless network.

AW: How did you get into the consumer electronics industry?

FF: Following consumer trends and behaviors has always been an interest of mine. I have spent time studying what consumers are doing and how different segments are beginning to come together, such as PCs and home electronics.

AW: What do you consider to be your greatest achievements at Leadman.

FF: Watching the company grow from a very small 10-person operation to a multi-million dollar operation in six states.

AW: What are some goals that you are looking to accomplish in the next year, both professional and personal?

FF: From a professional standpoint, focusing on a new corporate vision that will expand our product offering by further uniting PCs and consumer electronics.

AW: Tell us a bit of your personal background in growing up, family, friends and location.

FF: I grew up and studied school in Taiwan and moved to the United States shortly after completing my MBA. I was married in the United States where my children have grown up, attended college and are beginning careers of their own.

AW: What do you do for fun?

FF: I enjoy recreational things such as golf, exercising and traveling. Reading and keeping with current events are also things I do for fun.
