In 2003, the Korean American community is taking some time to celebrate itself. Looking back on 100 years of a history marred by the same exclusion laws targeted at all Asians, rallied by the achievements of politicians, athletes and hard working peoplW, the Korean American community is taking this time to come together and look ahead.
AsianWeek looks at Korean America: its history; what it looks like today; the sentiment of Korean Americans facing both the presence of the U.S. military in their home country and the media image of North Koreans as villainous nuclear weapons hoarders; the long list of celebrations kicked off at the Tournament of Roses parade; and the special contributions of two Korean American women.
