Michael Chang retires

One of the most famous sports adages, out of the mouth of Brooklyn Dodgers manager Leo the Lip Durocher, is nice guys finish last. Leo the Lip never met Michael Chang.
Chang announced this week that the upcoming season will be his last on the ATP tour, and at the ripe old age of 30 he will devote more time to his family, friends and foundation. In a conference call with the press this week from his home on Mercer Island, Wash., Chang voiced few regrets about a 16-year career that saw him reach heights few tennis players APA or otherwise had before.

Taekwondo Athletes to Bay Area

Some of the worlds best combat sport competitors will be making their way to the Bay Area in anticipation of the 2003 Titan Games, held Feb. 13 to 15 in San Jose. Participants from all over the world including athletes from Korea, Russia, Mexico, Cuba, China, Puerto Rico and Vietnam will throw down in these classic games.
2000 Olympic gold medalist and 2001 World Taekwondo Champion Steven Lopez, along with 2000 Olympic teammate Kay Poe, will lead the U.S. taekwondo team into the 2003 Titan Game. The Titan Games mark the beginning of the Road to Athens for Americas taekwondo elite.
