Summer entertainment brings us one of the best shows in town with great music and a touching, true story told in the Buddy Holly Story currently playing at the Post Street Theater in downtown San Francisco.
Paralleling the birth of rock and roll, Buddy Holly and the Crickets made sensational music and dance moves that are truly memorable and a part of American culture. As a vocalist and guitarist, Holly recorded hits such as “That’ll Be the Day” and “Peggy Sue.” Their great talent and aspirations of superstardom were cut short by a tragic airplane crash following their rousing last concert in the winter of 1959. Holly, Ricky Valens and “The Big Bopper,” JP Richardson, were on board. Holly’s music lives on.
On their way to stardom, young performers danced and sang their hearts out for Foothill College Repertory Dance Company’s summer recital and fundraiser on June 4 and 5. Audiences were thrilled to watch the agile movements by the award-winning choreographer Bubba Gong.
