•Susan Ralston: White House Servant or Advocate?

I was there [and saw that] Susan Ralston (“Ralston May Be More than a Footnote,” Dec. 15) was challenged by NaFFAA Chairman Loida Lewis during the national convention.

A few weeks later, Susan successfully arranged a meeting with Loida and discussed the Filipino WWII veterans claims. I personally know Rodel must have changed his perception about Susan, after she made the meeting happen.

Susan Ralston is another servant to President Bush. First the chef, now this? Why am I never able to see a Filipina American in political office that’s a household name (I’m not talking about servants!)? Not supporting Filipino WWII veterans’ benefits? What kind of colonial mentality does she have?

You always wonder as to how a self-respecting minority, particularly an Asian, could work for the GOP, which is anti-immigrant and anti-minority. Well, having said that, Ralston may have very little Asian in her. For all practical purposes she looks white.

•See No Evil with Coolies

Lisa Lee seems to have no problem bashing [Cooleyville] (“Yin-Yang: Take That Angelina,” Dec. 22). Log onto Cooleyville.tv, watch the clips, and tell me they are not funny. It’s a show by Asian Americans finally being irreverent. Support them. I’m from India and I identified with the family in the cartoon –– which has nothing to do with coolies.

Hey Lisa, have you even seen an episode of Cooleyville? Chances are you haven’t. Please do not pass blind judgment on the show until you’ve seen it.

All hail the honorable Frank Wu (“Beyond Black and White,” Dec. 1)!

•Scary Frats

Frats scare me, they (“The Brotherhood of Asian Fraternities,” Dec 15) remind me too much of the military. The same people that are attracted to the military are often attracted to frats. Students lose their individuality when they join a fraternity or a sorority. And, it can be dangerous, too. One student actually died at Chico State this year during a frat initiation hazing where he had to chug water.
