10 Commandments of Dragon Boat Racing

HIRE BAM-BAM: One person must actively drum throughout the entirety of the race, to reflect the cultural roots of dragon boating.

DRAGONS ALWAYS IN HEAT: There are 6 dragon boats per heat.

GO SPEED RACER, GO!: Course is 300m or 500m.

NO ‘U’ TURNS: All boats must stay and finish in their lanes.

USE THE DIAMOND LANE: Each boat must have a minimum of 16 paddlers. The maximum amount is 20.

MISSING ‘Y’ CHROMOSOMES: Mixed crews must have at least 8 women.

PYGMY DRAGONS UNWELCOME: All dragon boat specifications must conform to international standards. Most boats are about 45-ft. long.

HANDS PROHIBITED: All participants must use paddles.

USE BUBBLE WRAP: All competitors must wear personal flotation devices during races at all times.

CERTIFIABLY STEER CRAZY: All steer persons must be certified.
