SACRAMENTO — Statewide board members and officers of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association last week met with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his staff for a half hour inside the Ronald Reagan Cabinet Room of the State Capitol to discuss how they could “work together and build bridges between government and the API community.”
The governor thanked the group for their statewide voter education outreach and APA youth leadership training.
According to Yin, the governor expressed “how much the state of California appreciated APAPA’s help to have Asian Pacific Americans become more active in the democratic process.”
In addition, APAPA lunched with state officials and the governor’s staff, including Appointment Secretary Ricardo Sarmiento and Deputy Directors Hong Chang of Northern California and Alexander Kim of Southern California.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the appointment of qualified APAs to commissions and staff positions.
