SoMa Youth Receives Awards For Academic Excellence
May 25, 2007
San Francisco Bay Area Educators honored economically disadvantaged youth and children with an achievement award for consistent academic excellence.
The school children are products of West Bay Pilipino Multi-Service Center’s after school mentorship program geared to help South of Market area (SoMa) youth improve their overall academic performance.
West Bay provided one-on-one tutoring in math and English to help the students increase their academic performance.
The after school mentorship program has an enrollment of 45 Asian American students that have demonstrated sustained improvements in academic performance.
Nine of these children have performed extraordinarily well. They were presented with the Wesby Award, a newly created testimonial.
