Ed Jew Reaction
It certainly appears that another agenda is being played out here (”Voices from the Community: Jew Case Reveals Racism,” June 22). Strange that Ed Jew fought against the sewer-rate hike, and then we see that his father’s property had an unusually high water bill. Perhaps a water leak or perhaps a vengeful water department.

Raymond Mah, what alternate universe are you living in? You make all of us look stupid when you make specious claims about racism that are utterly laughable.

How dare Calvin Louie besmirch the name of Vincent Chin by associating him with Ed Jew (”Chinese Americans Split on Jew, Now Facing City Lawsuit,” June 22).
Louie should publicly apologize to the Chin family for this disgraceful characterization. Louie should stop playing the race card to exonerate the supervisor.

As a tax-paying resident of San Francisco and a member of the Filipino American Democratic Club, I can assure you that Ed Jew does not represent me, nor speak for my community.
Commentator Raymond Mah has clearly lost his marbles.

Raymond Mah raises the spirit of Dennis Kearney and mobs of racists from the late 19th century as a parallel to the current situation. Doing him one better, Calvin Louie provides the example of Vincent Chin.
Gentlemen, can you really — with a straight face — equate these horrible crimes with the politics of calling Ed Jew to task for his activities?

Fetish or Love
From my experiences primarily dating Vietnamese men, I have been treated better by white men (”Love vs. Asian Fetish,” June 8). I don’t have to deal with the sexism, racism and machismo that are so prevalent in the culture.
I am asked out by more white men than Asian men because Asian men have more preconceptions about my role as a woman.

I am married to an Asian woman raised in a Western country (”Love vs. Asian Fetish,” June 8). She is an outsider to people of her own ethnicity because she does not speak their language. She is discriminated by people in this mostly white society. Why did I fall in love with her? She was young, very beautiful, in fact possibly the most beautiful, inside as well as physically.

Jenny Parker is right. Love is love. I am Irish-Japanese. I look only white though. Asian women, date who you want and be happy.
If he has a fetish, he will be gone in no more than a month to another Asian woman.
