Nice Guys Finish Last

November 30, 2007

Anthony Bourdain, chef and host of The Travel Channel’s No Reservations, thinks San Francisco is crazy for thinking that nice guys make good chefs. “I was never about Casey!” Bourdain told me at Stacey’s Books on Nov. 19. “It was always all about Hung [Huynh, winner of season three] — from the start, it was Hung all the way. He might not have had the best beginning, but in the end, he had more than others were offering.” The acerbic wit signed copies of his newest book, Without Reservations: Around the World on an Empty Stomach, and remembered warmly his stint as a Top Chef judge, “even though the pay was s***.”

Jenny Shimizu Gets Her Five-A-Day
Jenny Shimizu, former Calvin Klein model and current star of Dante’s Cove (a horror TV show for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender audiences on the here! channel), might be known as a former mechanic who was lucky enough to date both Angelina Jolie and Madonna, but the gal also appreciates a healthy dose of fruit. Club Mango, specifically, at the famed El Rio bar in San Francisco’s Mission District, where the actress was reportedly seen in November having the time of her life. It comes as no surprise that the L.A.-based actress would be spotted at S.F.’s hottest lesbian party since she has bragged about being Angelina’s “first” — but not her last. “She loves women too much. It’s like a drug, and she was hooked,” Jenny has said.
