Shu Uemura, the Japanese makeup artist who won acclaim in Hollywood and built an international cosmetics brand under his name, has died. He was 79.

Bleu De Chine

Fashion store Blanc de Chine will begin carrying its diffusion line, bleu de chine, in its Fifth Avenue flagship this spring.

Taking inspiration from a form of martial arts, bleu de chine’s debut spring/ summer 2008 men’s and women’s collections cater to an active and energetic lifestyle.

Sharing many similarities with Blanc de Chine, bleu de chine takes inspiration from Zen Buddhism, Daoism and Confucianism. It incorporates elements of energy, durability and easy-care into each garment, keeping in mind lifestyle above all else in its designs.

This season’s line takes its influence from a Chinese minority tribe (the Naxi [nah-see] tribe, the only living culture who still uses the hieroglyphics system to communicate in writing) and the Zhong Shan jacket.
