‘West 32nd’ Delivers the Goods on ‘Lost’
Recent New York University grad Lanny Joon has an enviable post-college job: hanging out with Grace Park on the set of West 32nd and delivering Yunjin Kim’s baby on ABC’s Lost. Don’t worry — Park is married, and Joon didn’t look up Kim’s skirt at all. “She wore short shorts the whole time,” Joon told me. Everyone — from AngryAsianMan’s Phil Yu to superstar producer Phil Lam (who helped fund Ron Morales’ Santa Mesa) — was hoping that Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim’s characters wouldn’t be killed off on Thursday’s episode.
John Cho Ready for a Change
John Cho, star of Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, told me over whole wheat toast and jam that he couldn’t wait to finish his media tour and get back to his other love: his band, formerly called Left of Zed. “We’re now called ‘Viva La Union,’” Cho said. “I think the name change is our way of forcing ourselves to see ourselves differently.” Step one for Cho: “Getting out there and booking more gigs!”
‘Princess of Nebraska’ Star, Director Hook Up
Colma: The Musical director Richard Wong found love on the set of Wayne Wang’s Princess of Nebraska last year with leading lady Ling Li, a first-time actress who plays a Chinese exchange student. Li, vibrant in a white trench coat and fluffy white dress, was seen walking hand-in-hand with Wong at the 26th annual San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival opening night reception for A Thousand Years of Good Prayers at the Castro Theatre.
Daniel Wu, Single and On The Prowl?
Blood Brothers’ Daniel Wu arrived in San Francisco without girlfriend Lisa S. But don’t go clamoring just yet for his phone number: They’re still together. “Lisa S. is such a sweetheart!” a source close to Wu said. “I met her once, and she was just so nice and down-to-earth.” Wu brought Hong Kong’s young celebrity set, including Alive Not Dead partner Patrick Lee, to San Francisco’s Public restaurant for a fabulous afterparty, which lasted long into the night, and eventually terminated in an orgy of late-night beer and video games with childhood friends from Berkeley.
