Cal State Professor Wins Wang Family Award

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Cal State San Bernardino biology professor Stuart Sumida has been selected to receive a Wang Family Excellence Award for 2008 as the outstanding faculty member in the fields of natural sciences, mathematical and computer sciences, and engineering, making him the fourth CSUSB professor to receive the honor.

The prestigious award, which is accompanied by $20,000, is designed to “celebrate those CSU faculty and administrators who, through extraordinary commitment and dedication, have distinguished themselves by exemplary contributions and achievements in their academic disciplines and areas of assignment,” according to California State University.
“He is a remarkable academic — excelling as an internationally recognized scholar, as a classroom teacher who always receives exceptional student evaluations, and as a colleague who serves his department, college and university in a broad range of ways,” CSUSB President Albert Karnig said.
