Japanese and Muslim Americans: Shared Histories
It’s history repeating itself; the chain needs to be broken (“Joined in Outrage,” Editorial, May 2). It’s really upsetting and awful what Muslim, Middle Eastern and South Asian Americans are subjected to in America today. Taking the model straight from the internment camp process is disgusting. It’s just an utter disgrace that America is using what they did to Japanese Americans and now applying it to another group.
But it is amazing that these groups are coming together to support each other. We minority groups in this country cannot turn a blind eye to injustices again and again. We need to unite through commonalities and stand up for each other.

Obama and Reverend Wright
While the “Wright Affair” has caused Obama to distance himself from his pastor, your conclusion that it has diminished his attractiveness as our next president is solely attributable to the spin the media has provided (“The Disintegration Of Barack Obama,” Emil Amok, May 2).
Why have you, and the media in general, ignored the view that Obama’s explicit rejection of Wright’s hate-mongering diatribe is fully consistent with decisions he has made over the past 20 years?
The media is willing to diminish Obama’s candidacy based on his appropriate rejection of Wright’s rantings, while ignoring Hillary’s failure to repudiate Bill’s pardon of Mark Rich; the non-disclosure of hundreds of millions in contributions to the Clinton Library; Hillary’s disastrous showdown with the healthcare industry; and Bill’s disbarment from the Arkansas Bar.

He Banged
As awful and terrible as his singing was, you gotta admit that William Hung had both the gall and balls to do what he did (“From William Hung: Head of the Class,” The Yin Yang, May 2). For him to make a fool of himself before the public eye and walk away with his head held high, that definitely takes a sheer amount of courage and determination! Kudos to you William!
