GLAAD Stars Never in Same Room
The likely reason why Filipino American actor Alec Mapa and Korean American actor Rex Lee never share the GLAAD Awards red carpet? They’re practically doppelgangers. Both Mapa, who plays Suzuki St. Pierre on Ugly Betty, and Lee are petite, have a jolly mien, round cheeks and huge grins — and you hear them before you see them. But the difference is that Lee actually worked five years in the part that he now plays on Entourage — and has the eyebrow crease to show it. “I had a job as an assistant for a casting director,” Lee told HBO. “I worked for some casting directors who were, shall we say, tense. … I was very patient, and I put up with a lot. But every now and then, when they were unreasonable, I would tell them, ‘F— you.’” Lee auditioned when a friend told him a show was seeking a “gay Asian male, aged 22-30, to play a subservient assistant.”

MYX-TV Host Takes It Off at Bar
You can’t find a more loyal friend than MYX-TV host James Lontayao. The Filipino American took almost all of it off for The Ant Show’s fourth annual Boxer Rebellion benefit fashion show at the Red Devil Lounge on May 9. “Tin [Fan, the event’s host and founder,] asked me to help out, and why not?” Lontayao smiled. Of course, we were all smiling because that’s what you do when you’re standing in a room full of strangers in nothing but your Skivvies. The fashion show was preceded by former-Every Move a Picture drummer Dan Aquino doing a dance-punk set with his new band, Murder of Lilies. You can find video footage of the show at myx.tv.

Tila Tequila: E-Fame Isn’t Everything
Everyone knows what happens the morning after a tequila binge: a major hangover and a whole lot of mystery vomit. And the folks over at Radar magazine are doing just that, because they’ve given Tila (Nguyen) Tequila the Web’s Most Hated Person Award from their list of 10 obnoxious e-fame celebrities. Tequila’s detractors have even created hate songs, demonstrating why she only sold 13,000 copies of her debut single. Even Page Six called her a “skank,” which is pretty bad when you consider that their staples include Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.
