Chinese American Association of Commerce Earthquake Fund-raiser

SAN FRANCISCO — The Chinese American Association of Commerce held a May 18 fund-raiser at Portsmouth Square in Chinatown to allow those without bank accounts and credit cards to donate cash to the crisis in Sichuan, China, following last month’s earthquake.

About $120,000 was raised, bringing the group’s total amount raised to $350,000; all money is being donated through the Chinese Consulate. The association continues to accept donations at their office from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; the address is: 778 Clay St., Suite A, San Francisco, 94112.
