Presidential Campaign Update

August 7, 2008

Senator John McCain sends personal greetings to the 5th Annual Asian Fest this weekend in Reston Virginia. The festival will most certainly showcase the great pride the Asian American community takes in the vibrant music, crafts, food and performing arts of its heritage.

Key Southern California leaders from the Chinese American, Korean American, Taiwan American, and Vietnamese American communities met with Sen. McCain’s Asian Foreign Policy Advisors to discuss key issues involving Asian Pacific security affairs.

The new National APA Coalitions Coordinator, Peter Su, former senior staff in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, also took the opportunity to communicate top priorities of the campaign with Team California via a conference call.

The California APA Coalition kicked off two additional field offices in Little Saigon in Southern California and one in Northern California.

Chinese Americans for McCain garnered the support of Chinese Organization of America and US-Taiwan Alliance this week.

Back home in the Bay Area, Filipinos for Obama will hold a kick-off event on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zebulon, 83 Natoma, San Francisco.

The event is free, but a donation of $25 or more to the Obama campaign enters you in a raffle to win a signed copy of Senator Obama’s book, The Audacity of Hope. Visit www.FilipinosforObama.org to RSVP or for more information.

On the other coast, South Asians for Obama will hold a benefit for the Senator and the Obama Victory Fund with Kal Penn, Mira Nair, Karsh Kale, DJ Rekha, Trendroid, Bollygirl v. Two new YouTube videos are now available on www.asianamericansforobama.com. The first is of Sen. Obama’s remarks at the AAPI and South Asian fundraiser held on July 29 in Washington, D.C.
