The book brings the characters of Fat Rabbit Farm’s line of apparel to life in 36 artful, engaging pages. The adventures of Babee, Blanket and the rest of the Fat Rabbit Farm crew are sure to entertain readers of all ages.
The story begins as Babee and Blanket discover a hidden treasure map leading to the Legendary Golden Cupcake, which is heavily guarded by a group of fierce guardians called the Hungry Ninjas. Babee and her friends must brave through various challenges to cross the Valley of the Hungry Ninjas.
For over three years, creator and designers Jason Ponggasam and Patty Variboa have instilled passion, creativity, and personality into the creation of Fat Rabbit Farm. Both Ponggasam and Variboa are self-taught designers and illustrators, who have translated much of their Asian heritage and interest in Asian art into their work.
“Our style of art is very much influenced by Japanese animation- we love the exaggeration of facial expression and Kawaii-ness they put into each characters,” said Variboa. “The attention to details and colors and the magic of how they are able to make anything cute just by making it small and round.” Using this influence, Variboa and Ponggasam have meshed this style into that of their own.
“We incorporated the style of Japanese anime and our own graphical style of modern and clean line to combine how the artwork of Fat Rabbit Farm looks like today,” said Variboa.
Both artists continue to share the adventures and stories of the kingdom of Fat Rabbit Farm through apparel, art, accessories and now, books. They are currently working on a second book, in which Variboa states will put more spotlight on other characters.
“We develop many ideas that we wish we could research several story books all at once,” said Variboa.
Fans can have their own copy of Babee and The Valley of The Hungry Ninjas autographed at the Alternative Press Expo (APE) in San Francisco at the Concourse Exhibition Center from October 16-17.
