SFPD Offers Child Safety Tips to South of Market Area Youth

SFPD Chief Greg Suhr, Commander Mike Biel and School Principal Jeff Burgos briefed students at Bessie Carmichael Middle School about Child Safety in the streets and introduced the location of Safe Haven stores and busnisses in the South of Market Area to the community.

The Safe Haven program relies on the help of businesses in the area who are willing to provide shelter and protection for a child that feels any sort of physical or mental threat. As a safe haven, the store front owner will keep the child safe and call the necessary authorities — the police and their parents.
