EVENT: 4th Annual Operation Prom Dress
City of San José High School Students will choose a Prom Dress at No cost

WHEN: Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 10:00am-2:00pm

WHERE: Seven Trees Community Center, 3590 Cas Drive, San Jose, CA 95111

COST: Free

WHO: Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen
Comerica Bank

BACKGROUND: With the continuing economic downturn, families are still cutting expenses to make ends meet. For many area high school girls, a reduction in family spending mean that plans for a fairytale prom may not happen. Since 2009, the office of Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen has given out more than 3000 dresses to girls through Operation Prom Dress—A prom dress drive to encourage residents of the City of San Jose to donate new or gently-used dresses for high school girls who may not be able to afford a dress for prom. The goal is to ensure that every girl gets a dress for prom and not have to worry about the expenses.

New and gently used dresses were collected from November 2011 thru April 2012 at libraries, community centers, and Comerica Banking centers throughout the City of San Jose. In addition to giving away free prom dresses, free dry cleaning and hair and make-up session certificates will be distributed as well as discount coupons on tuxedo rentals.

Vice Mayor Nguyen and her staff will distribute dresses to high school girls on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 10am-2pm at Seven Trees Community Center, 3590 Cas Drive, San Jose, CA 95111.
