On May 5, 2012 Enzo Villadolid and Trevor Claros, each with a distance of 15-7.50, tied for first place in the Long Jump Youth Boys Division at the local invitational meet. Gold medals were awarded to both these dedicated MacCanDo student athletes. In MacCanDo’s eight-year history, it is the first time that two of their student athletes tied for first place in any event. They are extremely proud of their competitiveness, hardwork and teamwork.

Two weeks following this accomplishment, Enzo Villadolid became the new league record holder in the 100m and 200m dash, breaking the PPSL (Peninsula Parishes School Leagues) 6th grade league records with a time of 12.31 and 26.24 respectively. These marks are faster than the league’s 7th and 8th grade champions. Enzo also jumped 17 feet in the long jump during the earlier PPSL meets; however, the league only allows an athlete to enter two events during championship meets. As a result, Enzo was not allowed to compete in the long jump.

The MacCanDo team will continue competing in what is proving to be a very successful 2012 track season currently underway. They hope to make our fourth appearance at the AAU National Junior Olympics held in Houston, Texas during the last week of July and the first week of August.
