Last Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants hosted Polynesian Heritage Night. After the Giants won the first two games of a four game series against the Colorado Rockies, Polynesian Heritage ticket-holders were excited to celebrate Polynesian culture with song, dance, food, and of course another hopeful SF Giants victory. Fans who purchased a special Polynesian Heritage Night ticket were given a collectible orange tiki mug.

Polynesian Heritage Night kicked off at 5pm. The line up of entertainment included Polynesian inspired music by several musicians and three Polynesian dance groups performed for a crowd of about 150-200 guests. Food for the event was served up by a Hawaiian food inspired food truck. Following the entertainment in Seals Plaza three more groups set up on the warning track inside AT&T Park and performed a couple of routines to live Polynesian music using traditional instruments.

Taking to the mound that night was Matt Cain, who ended up picked up his 15th win. The Giants were first to strike as Pablo Sandoval hit a long ball 3-run HR against Tyler Chatwood on a 1-2 count in the 1st inning breaking his homerless at-bat streak at 161 and 181 plate appearances.

The Rockies answered back in the 5th with Nelson on 3rd base tagging and scoring on a sacrifice fly by LeMahieu to Hunter Pence. Score (SF 3 – COL 1)

The Giants then returned the favor in the bottom of the 5th with Pablo Sandoval singling to right field. Sandoval then stole 2nd base and later moved to 3rd on a throwing error by Rosario. Hunter Pence singled to the pitcher. Brandon Belt then doubled to right field, scoring Sandoval; Hunter Pence then moved onto 3rd. Gregor Blanco then singled through the hole at second base scoring Pence and Belt. Blanco then tried to get to 2nd but was caught in a rundown with the out from Blackmon to Rutledge to LeMahieu to Ottavino. (SF 6 -COL 1)

The Giants then scored again in the 6th with Pagan on 2nd as Posey hit a single into right field. (SF 7 – COL 1)

J. Mijares replaced Matt Cain in the 9th and closes out the game with final score SFGiants 7- Colorado Rockies 1.
