Wu Yee Children’s Services Announces New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Wu Yee Children’s Services is pleased to announce the selection of Monica Walters as the new Executive Director; Monica will assume her new leadership role with the nonprofit agency effective today, October 10, 2012. Ms. Walters joins Wu Yee from San Francisco’s Cameron House where she has served as Executive Director since 2009. In addition to her expertise as an Executive Director, Monica is also currently President of NICOS Board of Directors, a member of Asian Pacific Islander (API) Budget Coalition and a member of San Francisco Neighborhood Centers Together. Monica assumes the leadership role from Ben Wong who has been serving as the Interim Executive Director.

Bill Shen, President of the Board of Directors said, “We are very excited to have Monica join our team; she brings passion, commitment and more than 20 years of experience serving youth, families and ethnic communities. During our time of transition; Wu Yee remains committed to the continuity of our high quality community service programs.”

Wu Yee Children’s Services is a child care and family services agency in San Francisco created in response to the overwhelming need for adequate child care and family resources for low-income, Cantonese-speaking families.  Today, as we celebrate our 35th Anniversary of providing direct service delivery, Wu Yee touches the lives of over 21,000 families, children and child care providers through our five child development centers, our Joy Lok Family Resource Center in Chinatown, and our child care provider services.
