39th Annual Japanese Speech Contest

The Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco and the Japanese American Association  of Northern California (Hokka Nichi Bei Kai) will be co-hosting the 39th Annual Japanese Speech Contest on Sunday November 4th, 2012 as follows:

Junior High/High School Student Division
Date/ Time: Sunday November 4, 9:30a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Venue: San Francisco State University (1600 Holloway St, San Francisco, CA), Humanities Building Auditorium (Room 133)

This division will feature 20 contestants who are junior high or high school students currently studying the Japanese language. Contestants in this division have not lived in  Japan for more than one year after the age of six.

College Student/ Adult Division
Date/ Time: Sunday November 4, 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Venue: San Francisco State University, (1600 Holloway St, San Francisco, CA), Humanities Building Auditorium (Room 133)

This division will feature 13 contestants who are either U.S. citizens or permanent  residents. Contestants in this division are currently enrolled college students or adults who have not lived in Japan for more than two consecutive years after the age of six and
are current or former students of the Japanese language.
