Redwood City, CA  – Prepare to get blown away with this week’s break out artist on Myx TV’s Press Play with the Bay Area’s Alex Carbonel. Showcasing the best ofindependent music artists around the United States, the network will be the first to broadcast dozens of their music and videos. New age acoustic artist Alex Carbonel first picked up the guitar as a bet to get into a high school talent show. Not one to back down from a challenge, Carbonel went from experimental strums to the competitive stage of Kollaboration. Self-taught and self-made, she now plays her original music for the first time before an audience of 10 million through Myx TV.

As music has made many an overnight star, Alex Carbonel’s passion brought her to collaborate with Grammy Award winning producer, Bedrock. Her music has also landed her coveted gigs like opening for Sean Kingston at Gaelapalooza and an inclusion in a soundtrack for an award winning documentary. Her single, “I Can’t Wait” headlines the second episode of Press Play.

The Filipino-Irish songstress was a former Division I basketball star leading an intensely athletic life but it was her father’s love for country music that inspired her musical journey. When her original tracks “Just Because It’s Wednesday,” “Red Velvet Cupcakes,” and “War” went from hum to strum, she planted herself a permanent spot on the indie scene.
This week, Alex Carbonel plays for the entire nation. “That you took the time to invest in my dream means the world to me,” she said. “Be ready because I have lots of new music coming your way soon!”
