The Chinese American Environmental Professionals Association (CAEPA) will host the “2013 International Conference on Sustainability and Environmental Protection” and environmental training workshops from October 10 to 13 at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Francisco Airport located at 835 Airport Boulevard in Burlingame, CA. They welcome and invite any interested individuals to attend.
CAEPA was established in 1988 by a group of Chinese environmental protection engineers and scientists in the San Francisco Bay Area. It currently has about 300 members in the United States and overseas. The co-organizers of this international conference include: CAEPA-Taipei, California Regional Water Quality Control Board – San Francisco Bay Region, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, Tsinghua University, Taiwan Environmental Sustainable Development Foundation and Sinotech Engineering Consultants, Inc.
Many scholars from Stanford University (including a Nobel laureate), UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, National Taiwan University and National Cheng Kung University will attend this conference. High executive officials from the US Environmental Protection Agency, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, East Bay Municipal Utility District, City of San Francisco and City of San Jose are also coming to share their experience of implementation of sustainable development and green projects.
On October 10 and 11th, two parallel training workshops will be facilitated. One is “Advanced Wastewater Treatment & Water Reuse Technologies;” The other one is “Investigation & Remediation Technologies for Soil & Groundwater Contaminated Sites.” Instructors of the two training workshops are all well-experienced professionals. Persons interested in learning the cutting edge environmental protection technology are encouraged to register early.
After the open ceremony in the morning on October 12 (Saturday), three seminars will be facilitated in the afternoon on October 12 and 13. The topic of seminar A is “A Sustainable Future – How Do We Transform Our Vision into Reality?” The topic of seminar B is “Re-invent Our Wastewater Infrastructure;” The topic of seminar C is “Clean up Our Mess for the Future Generations: Air, Soil and Groundwater.” In addition to seminars, participants can register for a site tour. Site visits have three routes: The group of route A visits the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified green building; The group of route B visits San Jose/Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility and Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center; The group of route C visits the Emeryville brownfield redevelopment site and former Alameda Naval Air Station superfund site.
This conference will bring hundreds of environmental professionals from the USA, Taiwan and China together.
