Washington, D.C. – San Francisco Public Library is receiving a generous donation of almost 1,000 books in the Chinese language for its readers of Chinese. These books will be added to the collections at the San Francisco Main Library and at 11 branch libraries in neighborhoods throughout San Francisco. This collection will serve to benefit the nearly 565,000 Chinese residents of the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as others interested in China or learning about Chinese language and culture. The donation ceremony will be held at the San Francisco Main Library, located at 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, CA94102, on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 9:30-10:30 AM.
This is the fourth donation of Chinese books by the Ameson Education and Cultural Exchange Foundation and China Zhi Gong Party to U.S. metropolitan libraries, after Los Angeles, Washington DC, and the New York City Public Library.
Ameson Education and Cultural Exchange Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the promotion and implementation of programs which facilitate cultural exchange and educational cooperation throughout the world. Ameson Foundation’s honorary Chairman is Dr. Boutros Boutros Ghali, the former Secretary General of the United Nations.
China’s Zhi Gong Party was founded in 1925 in San Francisco by the American Zhi Gong Club, an overseas Chinese society. Today, the China Zhi Gong Party, composed of returned overseas Chinese, their friends and relatives, is committed to upholding the rights and interests of overseas Chinese while also supporting the sovereignty and prosperity of China. A delegation from China, headed by Ms. Yan Xiaopei, Vice-President of the Central Committee of China Zhi Gong Party, and composed of famous authors and professors from Zhong Shan University, one of the top universities in China, will also participate in the event.
