Stoneham, MA – On Sunday, October 20th the Akshaya Patra Foundation’s San Francisco Bay Area Chapter will be holding its 2013 Benefit Event at the India Community Center in Milpitas at 5:30PM.  Vice Chairman and Trustee of Akshaya Patra’s main branch in India, Chanchalapathi Dasa will serve as the keynote speaker for the event and share the story of his own journey with Akshaya Patra.  The event will also feature special guest Vijay Amritraj, Wimbledon Cup competitor and host of Dimensions with Vijay Amritraj on CNN IBN.  The event will raise funds and awareness for Akshaya Patra’s unique and innovative program for eradicating hunger and promoting education in India.

Chanchalapathi Dasa, known to many as “CP Ji”, was among the first founders of the Akshaya Patra Foundation. He completed his undergraduate in PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. Later he attended the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where he earned his Master’s Degree in Electrical Communication Engineering. Chanchalapathi Dasa helped found Akshaya Patra as a pilot program serving school meals to just 1,500 children in 5 schools in Bangalore. Together, the founders combined their own knowledge of engineering to transform Akshaya Patra into one of the world’s largest NGO-run school meal programs that today serves 1.3 million children daily in over 9,500 schools from 19 kitchens in nine states across India. Today, Chanchalapathi Dasa manages the executive operations of the Foundation.

A public-private partnership, Akshaya Patra combines good management, innovative technology and smart engineering to deliver school meals at a fraction of the cost of similar programs in other parts of the world. In 2013, The Global Journal ranked Akshaya Patra the #1 NGO in the World working to improve the lives of children and youth, and ranked Akshaya Patra 24th among the top 100 NGOs in the world for innovation, efficiency and impact.

The event will be attended by community leaders, business executives and long-time supporters of Akshaya Patra.  The Benefit Event is chaired by B.V. Jagadeesh, Vish Mishra, and Ram Reddy. They are assisted by the Steering Committee members Sandhya Rao, Ekta Khurana, Rashmi Rao, Bhava Avula.  Registration for the event can be made at http://www.cvent.com/d/x4qm3k/4W or by phone at 781-438-3090 x 5.
