LOS ANGELES, CA – Kollaboration is proud to introduce the six finalists who will be competing at Kollaboration Star 2013 on November 16th at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The online voting, which concluded on October 17th, was held on the Kollaboration Star Facebook page and saw nearly 10,000 votes come in during the 3-day voting period. From the 13 local Kollaboration talent competition winners across the U.S. and Canada, the five competitors with most online votes along with one Wild Card finalist selected by the Kollaboration Directors were chosen to be flown into Los Angeles, represent their cities, and compete for the $20,000 Grand Prize:

As the Wild Card finalist, Silverio has proven that he has never allowed discouragement to stand in his way ever since he began beatboxing in 2008. Any negative comments only motivated the young Texan to improve his craft, eventually leading church and show performances and winning Kollaboration Houston.

The two artistically gifted brothers are devoted to adapting music as a lifestyle and singing about the glory of life. As past winners of a Clara C cover contest and guest performers at “Inspire 2012,” the duo
are incredibly talented with a brotherly charisma that never fails to charm a crowd.

– SAN FRANCISCO – &BLUE, acoustic band

Patrick Wong, Jonathan Yoon, Jennifer Lee, and Edwin Cho came together after a few spontaneous jam sessions through their united passions for music and quirky personalities, and has since, forged an inseparable bond. The UC Berkeley band’s soulful and laid-back vibe stems from a combination of their various vocal timbres and styles that come together for a wholesome, acoustic, and vocal-centered rhythm & blues feel.

– SEATTLE – TROY & ARIEL, spoken word/composer

Troy Osaki is the 2012 Youth Speaks Seattle and University of Washington’s Grand Slam Poetry Champion. In 2012, he linked up with composer Ariel Loud and began creating music and poetry together in hopes to
connect, learn, and build with others through their storytelling.

Angela Abrenica’s unique, indie voice and Xylk Lorena’s MC skills come together to deliver an eclectic sound that has emerged swiftly onto the Toronto music scene. The Filipino duo, notably recognized as Plaitwrights, just released their EP “CMYK” and together with their eccentric band, Charleston Relay, they have performed on some of the largest stages in Toronto and have imminent plans to begin an international tour.

Most recognized from his appearance on the popular South Korean television series “MBC’s Star Audition,” Yoon place in the competition’s top 10 finalists with his soulful voice and outstanding talent and went on to train at CUBE Entertainment, talent agency of some of top Kpop Idol groups, such as 4Minute, BEAST, and G.NA.

These six finalists represent some of the most promising Asian American talent on the continent and will share the stage with the most prominent names in Asian American entertainment: Drunken Tiger, T Yoon Mi Rae, Bizzy, Paul PK Kim, Mike Song, Terry “KRNFX” Im, and David So.

The biggest Asian American talent competition is also welcoming another special guest performer to its line-up, Youtube sensation David Choi. Choi will be joining hip-hop legends Drunken Tiger, T Yoon Mi Rae, and Bizzy during the performance of their hit song “The Cure,” a song dedicated to Tiger JK’s father who is currently battling Stage 4 lung cancer. The title track as well as its album has been critically acclaimed in Korea, and the song speaks to fans about never giving up, despite the hardships that arise. Kollaboration Star 2013 will feature the group’s first public performance together.
