SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 14, 2014) – Subaru and the AsianWeek Foundationwill introduce the new Subaru “Hep B Free Mobile” at the 10th Annual Hill Physicians Asian Heritage Street Celebration (AHSC), the nation’s largest pan Asian street fair. AHSC will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 in San Francisco, in front of the Asian Art Museum, leading up to the Little Saigon District. The event is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Subaru Hep B Free Mobile is part of the company’s commitment to healthy living and improving community health. The car is wrapped with the colors of the Hep B Free campaign and serves as a moving billboard to educate communities about preventing Hep B disease, the greatest cause of liver cancer and the greatest health disparity facing Asian/Pacific Islanders.
The Hep B Free Mobile has visited more than 100 events in the last five years, reaching approximately 2,500,000 people. This year the Hep B Free Mobile is a XV Crosstrek Hybrid, and will spread the message of Hep B prevention using the most fuel-efficient and lowest-emissions All-Wheel Drive hybrid crossover vehicle in America.
“Subaru is committed to good corporate citizenship, which is helping to save lives in the Asian American community, and is also helping to preserve our environment. We are proud to partner with Subaru in sharing the love for our families and future generations,” said AsianWeek Foundation Executive Director and Founder of the Asian Heritage Street Celebration Ted Fang.
Subaru will be on-site at AHSC with models of the all-new Subaru WRX, XV Crosstrek Hybrid Hep B Free Mobile and a special incentive on the 2014 Outback. Subaru will be offering complimentary social photos inside the Subaru display. The first 500 visitors will receive an eco-friendly, flat refillable water bottle and everyone receives organic seeds to get their vegetable garden started (while supplies last). The commitment of Subaru to the environment matches the increasing awareness Asian Americans have towards preserving the environment for their families and future generations.
“Subaru shares the principles and values of the Asian American community for keeping our families safe and healthy,” said Tom Doll, President and COO of Subaru of America. “We are proud of our long partnership with the Hep B Free campaign and the Asian Heritage Street Celebration. Together, we are making a positive impact in the community and on the environment.”
