Tuesday was an amazing night of speeches in St. Paul. There was real life to the party as state delegations across the floor of the convention chanted “Country First” and “U.S.A.” So much so that program officials informed participants that supporters’ long applause, standing ovations and shouts of support added on more minutes to an already tightly scheduled program block. Senator John McCain took to a modified stage tonight. It was nothing fancy, just a little smaller, a little more intimate and it drew out a little closer to the people. The stage held just a simple podium and microphone. It was nothing flashy. All the better, because the simplicity of the stage contrasted to the substance from the Senator’s speech. Read more

Republican Asian Pacific Americans arrived at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minn., in a somber spirit as Hurricane Gustav approached the Gulf Coast. The delegates and attendees awaited the impact of Gustav as the convention cancelled all non-essential functions and events on the first day in solidarity with the people of the Gulf Coast. Read more
